On March 14, 1961, Jerry Tillem, a young man of only 24 years, took a huge challenge and started ATCO International. Initially, this venture was the work of only one man in the pursuit of a grand vision. He solely bought the products, repackaged them and sold them until he was financially able to expand. Jerry's goal, as it continues to be today, is to supply customers with the finest products and service at affordable prices.
By the mid-60's, ATCO had a growing sales force and the internal support personnel needed to back their efforts. During the 70's, ATCO directed new sales into the municipal market concentrating on janitorial and sanitation supplies. By the early 80's, ATCO had gained an outstanding regional reputation providing a more comprehensive product line. ATCO also moved into bulk lubrication which took the company to the next level of success. During the same period, the company expanded into the international sales market with success in Canada, the Middle East and the Caribbean.
The early 90's was the beginning of ATCO's greatest period of prosperity. A significant decision was made to start an inside sales force. ATCO opened its first Telesales department at our headquarters in Marietta, Georgia. After a decade of success, the company opened two additional satellite offices in the metropolitan Atlanta area to further increase its customer base.
In the new millennium, ATCO has turned its focus to many new areas in sales and administrative support. The inside and outside sales forces have expanded into the industrial and military markets. The company has also added an extensive water treatment product line. In addition, ATCO has implemented an internal Information Technology team and invested in the latest computer technology. Customer service personnel may now respond promptly to customer inquiries, and most orders may be shipped within one day.
ATCO's focus remains on quality, excellence and commitment to its customers and employees. The grand vision that started this company still exists today and continues to guide ATCO into the future!
